TWO stock theft suspects were arrested in Cradock by alert members of the K9 unit.
On Friday January 26, members from the unit were on patrol duties on the R61 between Cradock and Tarkastad at 5.50am when they noticed two men carrying two plastic bags.
When the suspects saw the police vehicle, they started to run away.
The police gave chase and managed to arrest the two suspects. The carcase of one sheep was confiscated.
Police Day celebration
The management of the SAPS at Cradock Police Station, as well as the sector commanders in Cradock, committed themselves to serving the community with dignity and pride during a recent National Police Day celebration.
The aim of the day was to enhance the corporate image of the SAPS and engage in crime prevention activities.
15 years’ imprisonment for murder
An accused in a murder case was found guilty in the Regional Court in Cradock on January 23 and sentenced to 15 years’ imprisonment. The incident took place on September 4, 2016 in Michausdal. The deceased, 40-year-old Pieter Williams, was stabbed to death by the accused, 40-year-old Kiewiets Peters.
The investigating officer in the case was Constable Siyabongo Ntsimango.
Suspect arrested for possession of dagga
The Cradock SAPS have registered a case of dealing in dagga after a 37-year-old man was arrested in Tambo Street, Lingelihle. The members of K9 unit were on patrol duties at about 12.10am on January 30 when they stopped and searched a vehicle. They found seven refuse bags filled with dagga inside the vehicle.
