“WHAT is your life song?” This was the question asked by guest speaker Saartjie van Dyk during her talk at the Women’s Month celebrations hosted by ladies from the Anglican Church of Hofmeyr and Steynsburg.
Almost 100 women attended the event held in the form of a high tea on Saturday, August 2. Organiser, Brenda Dell, thanked the ladies for wearing something red to the occasion to represent their passion as women.
The additional abundance of red decor on the stylishly set tables, as well as tea and delicious treats, certainly helped to lift the mood on an otherwise very cold and windy August morning.
Two talented artists, Johanneke Strydom from Molteno, and Linda Opperman from Hofmeyr, displayed some of their beautiful and original artwork. Guest speaker Saartjie van Dyk who hails from East London, ministered to the audience about the fact that each woman has a unique purpose and calling.
She encouraged all present to stop comparing themselves to others, and rather dedicate their time and energy toward discovering the unique words and sound of their “life song”.
A number of lucky ladies won special prizes in the lucky draw and also during a musical quiz. A surprise performance by Middelburg’s talented, young saxophone player, Darren Jacobus, who recently returned from New York, concluded the events.
