CELTIS Country Lodge & Restaurant in Middelburg is a finalist in the Lilizela Accommodation Awards, South Africa’s premier Travel and Tourism online competition, after being nominated by some of their guests for the awards.

Riaan and Annelie van der Ryst started their guest house in 2006 as Celtis Garden Cottages. In the last 12 years, the business grew steadily until it became the well-known Celtis Country Lodge & Restaurant.

The Lilizela Accommodation Awards are designed to encourage and motivate people to offer the best services, facilities and products. They give an opportunity to celebrate excellence, creativity and innovation.

According to the criteria of the Lilizela Awards, they recognise and reward those who work passionately and with pride to deliver a world-class product and service to their guests, the community and visitors to South Africa.

They are also awarded to those who set benchmarks of service excellence, contributing to the industry, investing in skills provision, leading by example and for ensuring that each guest is given a world-class experience in South Africa.

The Service Excellence Category in which the Van der Rysts and their staff achieved this award was the Accommodation Category.

Celtis Country Lodge & Restaurant has 28 permanent employees. It boasts a superb restaurant on the premises.

Professionally prepared meals and themed functions at the fully licenced restaurant is one of the specialties at Celtis.

During a celebration function held at Celtis on Tuesday July 17, Riaan thanked all the staff for their hard work and contribution towards the excellence of Celtis Country Lodge & Restaurant and for making it possible to achieve the award.
