CRADOCK High School first rugby team played against Kirkwood this past weekend and the players from the Karoo dominated the game from the start.
CHS was the first to score after a well-constructed maul. CHS scrumhalf Juandré Duvenage soon scored the second try and just before half time, CHS went over through a well-worked move to lead 15-0 at break.
The second half saw Kirkwood’s team focusing more on the man than the ball and they tried to unsuccessfully close off the CHS fly-half, Niel Slabbert. CHS made their way to Kirkwood’s try-line once again, through some great interlink play which saw their lock, Ilizwe Tali, go over in the corner, taking the lead to 20-0. Kirkwood then came back and scored a well-worked out and winning try in the corner.
The final score was 20-5.
The other rugby results were as follow:
CHS U/16 won 17-12
CHS 2nd team won 24-3.
