THE well-known Bestmed TAMS SuperSpar Madibaz Top 10 Athletics meeting will take place in Cradock on Saturday, October 13.
This popular event will be hosted by Cradock High School (CHS), for the 13th consecutive year. Since its inception as a high school athletics event in 2006, this event has grown to one of the biggest school athletics events in the country.
Over the last couple of years many records have been set and broken by athletes who pushed themselves to better the already astonishing times and distances. Last year, however, was a record breaking year for this event.
An unbelievable 63 event records were set up, boasting again of the quality of the athletes taking part. The event not only draws high school athletes but also renowned South African sportsmen.
South African record holder and Olympic athlete LJ van Zyl, who attended the event last year as a representative of Bestmed, has also confirmed his attendance to this year’s event.
A record number of 50 schools registered for last year’s event, entering 89 teams and nearly 900 athletes, who battled things out in both track and field events, in the hope of being crowned the best performing male or female athlete and taking home the prize money.
CHS is honoured to have sponsors such as Bestmed, TAMS SuperSpar and Madibaz that support the vision of hosting one of the best school athletics event in South Africa. Without the support of these valued sponsors, this event would not have grown to the success it is known for today. The team at Cradock High School, backed by the loyal sponsors, are excited about the upcoming 2018 event.
If previous years’ results are anything to go by, this will once again be a record breaking year for school athletics.
Any school or sports club that would like to register for the event can contact JR Foreman on 048 881 2784 or sport@cradockhighschool.co.za. Closing date for registrations is September 25.
