The Dr Beyers Naudé Municipality’s Indigent Grant outreach, aimed at assisting eligible individuals to apply for or renew their indigent grants, is continuing this week.

The outreach started on 13 May, with several sessions scheduled for 13 and 15 May at various venues in Aberdeen and Steytlerville respectively.

The remainder of the schedule is as follows:
Thursday, May 22:
Nieu Bethesda – Town Hall, 09:00-10:00

Tuesday, May 27:

Willowmore – Morningside, 10:00-12:00
Willowmore – Sports Fields, 12:00-14:00

Thursday, May 29:
Willowmore – Town Hall, 10:00-12:00
Rietbron – Town Hall, 12:00-14:00

To qualify for an indigent grant, the applicant must be a South African citizen and resident within the Dr Beyers Naudé municipal area.

In addition, they must be an owner or tenant who receives municipal services, and they must be registered as an account holder on the municipality’s financial system.

The total household income of all occupiers on the premises – including income-earning tenants or backyard dwellers – may not exceed the value of two government pensions.

Residents are reminded that an indigent grant subsidy expires after 12 months and therefore those who qualify have to reapply every year.

Those who would like to apply for an indigent grant or renew an existing indigent grant should bring along any of the following documents if applicable:
• 3-month bank statement,
• 3-month salary slip or affidavit stating unemployment,
• SASSA confirmation,
• ID copy,
• Marriage certificate,
• Affidavit confirming number of children,
• Death certificate if parents are deceased,
• Letter of authority for any relationship other than biological parents.
