FORT Beaufort actor, Thobani Mseleni (30), was laid to rest in his beloved home town this past Saturday.
His funeral was attended by hundreds of mourners from across the country, including well-known television and radio celebrities.
Mseleni died in a horror car accident just outside Komani on April 28, alongside two other celebrities, Akhumzi Jezile, Siyasanga Kobese and two others. His mother, Nomawethu Mseleni reportedly first heard of the news of her son’s death from friends and relatives who had seen it posted on social media.
Mseleni had visited his family in Fort Beaufort only a few weeks prior to his tragic death. Mseleni, whose funeral was conducted from a packed Fort Beaufort Town Hall on Saturday received his primary education at Newton (UCC) Primary School.
He later attended Gymnasium High School in Adelaide and matriculated from Althorpe College in East London. After matriculating, he studied marketing at Cape Town College and in 2009 moved to Johannesburg in pursuit of his acting dream.
He was renowned for his acting roles in productions like Moferefere, Intersexions, Single Guys, Matatiele, The Queen, Ring of Lies, Imposter, Generations, Swartwater and most recently the film, Inxeba (The Wound).
He is survived by his mother, Nomawethu, and a younger brother, Liyema Mseleni.
