#IMAGINE is a youth movement in South Africa, spreading the love and grace of Jesus Christ to teenagers across denominations, churches, languages, races and cultures.
#Imagine is a strategy to release hope in South Africa and develop the visionary leaders our country will need in future: leaders with integrity, a moral compass, compassion, commitment and faith.
Four events were held across South Africa over the weekend of April 6-8.
In the Eastern Cape more than 880 teenagers, leaders as well as serving volunteers, gathered at Mentorskraal Country Estate in Jeffrey’s Bay.
The teenagers came from as far as Aliwal North and East London to experience the activities provided at the event. The biggest group came from Gill College, Somerset East – 77 teenagers and 10 leaders and volunteers.
Teenagers and adults represented 40 different towns, 61 different schools, 149 different churches and 55 different denominations in the Eastern Cape alone.
The theme of the weekend, “Surprisingly Different”, was based on the story of Zacchaeus in the Gospel of Luke. It challenged teenagers to think about the obstacles preventing them from seeing and experiencing Jesus Christ.
Some of the testimonies given by teenagers of their experience over the weekend included changed hearts – experiencing the love of God surprisingly different, seeing themselves surprisingly different and seeing and loving their fellow brothers and sisters in Christ surprisingly different.
The three other events were held in the Western Cape, Free State and Limpopo.
