A
Graaff-Reinet woman died late last night, June 9 after an alleged gender-based violence attack.
Warrant
officer Majola Nkohli, police spokesperson, this morning
confirmed the murder by saying, “the police can confirm that they arrested
a 32-year-old man for his alleged involvement in the murder of a 30-year-old woman
at a house in Aster Street, Kroonvale, Graaff Reinet yesterday.”
People
close to the victim and suspect confirmed that the suspect is the
victim’s boyfriend.
The
murder took place in her home.
“The
motive surrounding the incident is forming part of the investigation,”
said Nkohli.
The
name of the deceased is being withheld until relatives formally identify
her body.
“The suspect is due to appear in the Graaff
Reinet Magistrate’s Court soon on a charge of murder,” said Nkohli.
