GROOTFONTEIN College held their College Cup in February and the season opened with Sevens rugby matches.

Soccer and netball games were also included in the tournament.

The first year students won the netball division, second year students won the rugby, while the third year students captured the soccer champions’ title.

Principal Themba Cabeni said he was fully behind this initiative as it promoted social cohesion among the student community.

“Tournaments of this magnitude will go a long way to bridge the cultural gaps among students. It is also a platform to identify talent from the new students. Therefore, coaches get involved in the College Cup with keen interest for new acquisitions to boost their teams,” Cabeni said.

SA Agricultural College’s Rugby, Soccer and Netball tournaments for 2018 will be hosted by Elsenburg at Stellenbosch this year and later this year the students might also compete according to year groups in cricket.
