JOHNSON Nqonqoza Senior Secondary, a historically disadvantaged school lying at the base of a mountain in Somerset East, is now the proud owner of a mobile tablet trolley, which was sponsored by Public Investment Corporation (PIC) in collaboration with giveITback.
This is the first time that learners from Johnson Nqonqoza Senior Secondary will have access to technology of any kind. The handover took place at the school on May 10 where the learners presented various activities.
This is one of two donations of its kind that PIC has made, with Poelano Secondary School in the North West Province also receiving a mobile tablet trolley.
The donation is valued in excess of R570 000 in total for the two schools. It consists of 40 tablet PCs, a teacher’s laptop, internet and an offline content server with full educational suite, subjects, books, apps, security features and more.
The brITe box, as the mobile trolley is called, is an ICT solution designed by giveITback and is the only battery-powered trolley of its kind. It is designed to empower learners in every subject, including mathematics, science, literacy and computer programming.
The system is modular and instantly transforms any class into an E-Learning environment. Johnson Nqonqoza Senior Secondary now have technology in their hands, a window to equal opportunity and future success.
