THE Karoo Wine Club is celebrating its fifth annual Stoep Tasting Wine weekend from May 25 to 26 in the picturesque town of Graaff-Reinet.

It promises to be the biggest and most fun-filled street party weekend ever held in the Karoo.

More than 35 of SA’s best Winema-kers, craft gin, liqueur and beer makers will descend for the weekend to grace the famous stoeps of the town and to celebrate their harvest.

More than 2 000 wine lovers from across the country will be strolling through the historic streets, from stoep to stoep, quaffing wines, meeting the winemakers and sampling the tasty street foods and restaurant fare, without the need to drive anywhere.

Highlights of this year’s event include;

Celebrity Karoo chef, Gordon Wright, author of the best selling cookbook, Veld to Fork, will launch his latest book, Karoo Food, on Saturday May 26, in collaboration with Krone MCC and Karoo Eye Wear at the Graaff-Reinet Club.

A first for this year’s event will be masterclasses hosted by various wine makers and craft brewers. These can be booked separately from May 1.

The Union Preschool will be hosting a “proper Karoo farmers’ market” on Saturday morning.

Tickets are on a tiered basis and are R275 per person until the end of April (R300pp in May) and include tastings at all estates for both days.

It is important to note that no tickets will be available on the weekend and must be booked in advance before May 15 when ticket sales end.
