SAPS arrest man for domestic violence attack on girlfriend.

CACADU – A suspect (31) will appear today, Wednesday, 4 February before Cacadu Magistrates’ Court for allegations of attempted murder in a domestic violence-related matter, after the victim was rescued by community members on 26 January around 21:00 at Zakhele Locality, Cacadu (formerly known as Lady Frere).

According to SAPS spokesperson Captain Yolisa Mgolodela, the suspect was arrested by Cacadu SAPS on Monday, 2 February.

She added that it is alleged that a victim (28) was asleep at her place of residence with her 2-year-old child when her boyfriend arrived. “He was further reported to have gained entry to the house by kicking the door.

Upon entering the house, the suspect allegedly started to shout and swear at the victim, accusing her of cheating on him.

The suspect is believed to have used a knife and a fork to stab the victim.

Mgolodela added that the victim, who is reported to have sustained stab wounds on the left thigh and arm, was rescued by the suspect’s friends and some neighbours and was transported to Glen Grey Hospital for medical attention.

“A case of attempted murder was opened at Cacadu Police Station for investigation. The suspect will appear before Cacadu Magistrates’ Court on 04 February 2025,” she said.

The District Commissioner is concerned about the brutal incidents of domestic violence that mostly culminate in victims losing their lives prematurely. “He urged his members to prioritise domestic violence incidents and ensure perpetrators are brought to justice,” Mgolodela concluded.
