A MUNICIPAL property adjacent to the Graaff-Reinet Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, which is utilised as a parking area for people of the Kingdom Hall and Merino Pharmacy will now serve its rightful purpose.
The two applicants proposed to council that presently, the property is not secured and homeless people are using it as a sleeping place and public latrine.
It was stated to council that illegal activities have also taken place, in the form off attempted break-ins, damage to property and theft to a point that the applicants had to upgrade their alarm systems and pay more for armed response.
Council approved the lease of the property to the applicants, but they must, at own cost, maintain and clean the property and install fencing and lockable gates.
