IN order to share the programme and the audience with more Cradock folk, the Schreiner Karoo Writers Festival will move down to The Shed for the day-time programme on Saturday, July 21.

“The festival benefits because there’s parking and plenty of space. The venue is elegant and provides the steady supply of fine coffee and superb food we need for speakers and audience members,” said Amy Coetzer, a member of the organising team.

Graaff-Reinet chef, Gordon Wright, will present his new cookbook, Karoo Food; novelist Jo-Anne Richards will help us understand why we read and write, and a line-up of other fascinating general talks are on the agenda.

Details have been posted on the festival’s website karoowritersfestival.weeby.com.

Bookings can be made by sending an e-mail to karoowritersfestival@gmail. com. A local market will run in The Shed grounds from 10:00.

Several authors will set up tables to sell their books.

“Anyone who would like to run a table for fund-raising, produce handcrafts or homebakes, would be very welcome,” said Karen Michau who will manage the market.

Interested parties should contact her on karenmichau7@gmail.com or 083 226 5525 to reserve a space.

Please note that the venue for the festival’s Sunday programme is Buffelshoek and Dirosie Game Lodge.
