The
Eastern Cape Police made the identity of the 30-year-old victim of an
alleged gender based violence murder known.
Andiswa
Johnny was stabbed to death in her Aster Street home in Kroonvale on Tuesday
evening, June 9.
The
suspect, James Smit (30) was arrested on the scene. He was allegedly Johnny’s boyfriend.
Smit made his first court appearance on Monday, June 13 and was remanded in custody.
According
to Warrant Officer Majola Nkohli, police spokesperson, Smit will again appear in the Graaff-Reinet Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday, June 29 for a formal bail application.
Nkholi
said the motive surrounding the incident forms part of the investigation.
