EVERY spare minute of the day, staff at Eagle Hout padstal weave a few more strips of fabric into the warp threads on one of the two large standing rug looms in the front shop and the main restaurant area.
It’s like eating peanuts, once you start you can’t stop.
Visitors will be able to have a go at this calming and mindful activity during this year’s Bedford Garden Festival.
The heavy, low-tech looms were built by artisans in the workshop, initially with one face for weaving.
But the weavers got impatient waiting their turn, so the backside of the loom was equipped with nails for threading a warp so two people can work on the same loom at once.
Fabric offcuts are cut up into narrow strips for weaving into sturdy and washable rugs.
